Spotify: Listen to Christian Music

Spotify’s a music application that you can install on your PC, laptops, phones, or tablets. It has a variety of artists and music you can listen to and yes, praise God, you can listen to Christian music also!
I was ecstatic to learn about it having Christian music and I’ve been playing songs from Hillsong, Kutless, Building 429, Jimmy Needham, and the like. Download Spotify here. Enjoy!

Reminder: Nothing (worldly things) is in itself bad but for when we use these things in ways that displease Him. It is up to us how we use these things. For ourselves? Or for God?
Everything for God’s glory. God bless!

Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) by Hillsong – Cover

Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) by Hillsong – Cover

I’ve been very inspired by this song originally sang by Hillsong United in their album entitled Zion. I finally got to do an a capella cover. I tried singing it with a guitar but I can’t do both at the same time. He he. I can really relate to the song lyric and whenever I feel down or discouraged, listening to this really helps (of course a long with a lot of prayer!).

“Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)”

You call me out upon the waters

The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep
My faith will standAnd I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine

Your grace abounds in deepest waters
Your sovereign hand
Will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You’ve never failed and You won’t start now

So I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior
[x6]

I will call upon Your Name
Keep my eyes above the waves
My soul will rest in Your embrace
I am Yours and You are mine

Give Me Faith

Give Me Faith by Elevation Worship (Cover)

I just recorded this last Friday night when I finally got me a new guitar tuner because my old one broke. I still can’t believe how amazing “Give Me Faith” is. It is one of my favorite songs to sing and play on the guitar. Forgive my mediocre guitar-playing and singing. I hope that this song inspires you as much as it does me.

Stand firm in the Lord, brothers and sisters. The time is nearing.

“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love.” – 1Cor. 16:13-14

Today’s Christian Music (Online Radio)

I’ve been looking for music to satisfy my fix of Christian and positive songs. Good thing I stumbled upon http://www.todayschristianmusic.com. They write reviews of Christian artists and new releases. They also feature a free song download (weekly, I think).

To accompany me on hot summer days, I listen to their online radio link: http://den-a.plr.liquidcompass.net/player/flash/audio_player.php?id=TCMIR&uid=404 . They have awesome tracks that are a mix of contemporary music and praise and worship songs. It can really lift up one’s mood! Give it a go instead of listening to songs with lyrics that contain bad words or are about drinking and partying all night.

God bless and happy tuning! 🙂

“Listen to the Sound”-Building 429

by Building 429

I wanted to share with you the band I’ve been adoring recently. The image above is their album cover for “Listen to the Sound” which was release last year, 2011. I found their song “Where I Belong” on top of a Christian songs chart and fell in love when I listened to the song. I was so excited when I was able to get a copy of the songs and I’ve been playing them on my iPod since.

If you want to hear something refreshing and at the same time to praise the Lord, check their songs out. I’ve been struggling with how to detach myself from worldly things and this is one step closer to my goal, I guess. I’ve been looking for Christian artists and songs to satisfy my ears’ craving for music without having to compromise my faith. A lot of mainstream music such as pop and all are catchy and have well-written music but then contain not-so-good lyrics that talk about drinking and partying.

Building 429 definitely brings glory to His name through their music. Very upbeat, rock-ish–since they’re a Christian rock band–but still has substance and the lyrics are sincere.

Here’s the list of songs off their album, in case you’d like to check them out on Youtube:

1.Made for You
2.Right Beside You
3.One Foot
4.Listen to the Sound
5.War Zone
6.Where I Belong
7.You Save Me
8.Walls are Coming Down
9.Love has been Spoken
10.Awaken Us

My personal favorites are “Where I Belong” and “You Save Me.” Happy listening and happy praising!

Jeremy Lin

Finally, a post about probably one of the most talked about people in the face of the planet since his spectacular performance last February 4, 2012.

Unless you live under a rock you must have heard of ‘Linsanity’ or at the very least, I quote, “that Asian guy on the NBA playing for the Knicks.” To be honest, it wasn’t until the latter of February that I joined the bandwagon of ‘linsane’ fans. Of course I was amazed by his performance, leading the NYK to straight wins and even scoring thirty-eight points against LA without Melo or Stats. But what really started my interest in him was when I learned he was a devout Christian. I searched the net for interviews and in every single one of them, he never forgot to give the glory to God and acknowledge that it’s all His doing. It’s not every day you see such humility and faithfulness in someone who’s started making a name in the industry. If you watch his interviews, I’m sure you can also notice how he doesn’t come-off as just trying to impress but it rather seems natural for him to talk about our Savior.

I also found an interview of Lin where he said something about what one’s motives are for doing something. Clearly he loved basketball but more so he loved God and he wanted to use that big of a platform which is the NBA to share the gospel. For Christian teens like me who have to deal with media influences every day, it’s nice to come across a phenomenon such as Jeremy Lin who has proven to be a worthy role model. With all the pop stars in outrageous, skimpy outfits who promote the not-so-good-stuff, I think it’s vital for our society to have somebody like Jeremy to look up to.

Heads-up though, you won’t be seeing him playing with the Knicks for a few more games due to a knee injury. He went through surgery already though and it was successful. You may catch him sitting on the bench watching the games. Just last Easter, he was spotted in a coat and tie during the game. ‘Guess he dressed up for church.
