Finally, a post about probably one of the most talked about people in the face of the planet since his spectacular performance last February 4, 2012.
Unless you live under a rock you must have heard of ‘Linsanity’ or at the very least, I quote, “that Asian guy on the NBA playing for the Knicks.” To be honest, it wasn’t until the latter of February that I joined the bandwagon of ‘linsane’ fans. Of course I was amazed by his performance, leading the NYK to straight wins and even scoring thirty-eight points against LA without Melo or Stats. But what really started my interest in him was when I learned he was a devout Christian. I searched the net for interviews and in every single one of them, he never forgot to give the glory to God and acknowledge that it’s all His doing. It’s not every day you see such humility and faithfulness in someone who’s started making a name in the industry. If you watch his interviews, I’m sure you can also notice how he doesn’t come-off as just trying to impress but it rather seems natural for him to talk about our Savior.
I also found an interview of Lin where he said something about what one’s motives are for doing something. Clearly he loved basketball but more so he loved God and he wanted to use that big of a platform which is the NBA to share the gospel. For Christian teens like me who have to deal with media influences every day, it’s nice to come across a phenomenon such as Jeremy Lin who has proven to be a worthy role model. With all the pop stars in outrageous, skimpy outfits who promote the not-so-good-stuff, I think it’s vital for our society to have somebody like Jeremy to look up to.
Heads-up though, you won’t be seeing him playing with the Knicks for a few more games due to a knee injury. He went through surgery already though and it was successful. You may catch him sitting on the bench watching the games. Just last Easter, he was spotted in a coat and tie during the game. ‘Guess he dressed up for church.
